About vasabiLab

vasabiLab (Virtualization Architecture and ScalABle Infrastructure Laboratory) is the academic computer laboratory in the Department of Computer Science at Thammasat University (Rangsit Campus). It was started in July 2010 by Dr. Kasidit Chanchio.

Our goals are to conduct research in the area of computer virtualization and invent new software systems that implement advanced capabilities to tackle distributed computing problems under abstractions provided by virtual machines.

Computing Facilities

Servers:
1. Udon and Oden: Two HP proliant ML350 G6 server with two Quad core Xeon 5500 2.40Ghz (and VT-x capability) processors and 72 GB RAM and a HP Smart Array with RAID 0 on two 250 GB SATA Disks.
2. Vasabi: A HP HP proliant ML350 G6 server with single Quad core Xeon 5500 2.40Ghz (and VT-x capability) processors and 8 GB RAM and Geforce 8800 GTS GPU.
3. Takoyaki: Two Quad core Xeon server with 4 GB RAM and Geforce 8800 GTX GPU.
4. hpccluster: A 16 nodes HP cluster donated by HP in 2008. Each node has a Xeon processor and 2GB memory. The machine is used currently for instruction in the Cluster Computing course.
5. Sushi cluster: Five HP DL385 G7 servers, each has a 12-cores 2.1 GHz Opteron 48GB RAM and 900GB HDD with a connection to a 10 Gbps Ethernet network.

Network:
1. A 10Gbit/s Network Connector connecting Udon and Oden servers.
2. A Gigabit Network connecting all the servers in the lab.
